The Davidoff company we know and love today has established itself as the one of the premier premium cigar companies in the world. They are consistently ranked among the highest in quality and service and are viewed as the quintessential luxury cigar company. Their flagship line, the Davidoff White label, enjoys a solid client base all over the world and has come to be known as one of the leading mild cigars in the industry. The company as recently begun expanding into more full bodied smokes with the edition of the Davidoff Escurio and Nicaragua lines, both have which garnered world wide acclaim and accolades.

Yet, what many people fail to realize about Davidoff, is that they make many more cigar brands than their own luxury line. Davidoff manufactures several of the leading brands besides their own brand name. Some of these lines they have created since their inception, others they purchased and began to sell them with a renewed vigor. Whatever the case, even their non-Davidoff brands are among the most popular and highest quality cigars available.

In the 1980s, Avo Uvezian had established himself around the world as an outstanding jazz musician. He had played before royalty and wrote one of Frank Sinatra’s most famous songs, “Strangers in the Night”. Upon smoking a Cuban cigar in Switzerland, Avo decided to make his own line of cigars that could compete with the Cubans in terms of quality, but for a much better price. He went to the Dominican Republic and met with world-renowned blender Hendrik Kelner. The Avo brand was soon born and for the passed 20 years has been blended, rolled, and distributed by Davidoff.

The Camacho brand originally began in the 1960s. Simon Camacho was a Cuban exile and began to have his cigars rolled in Miami, using Nicaraguan tobacco. The company enjoyed a fair amount of success, even becoming a favorite of Winston Churchill. Following Simons death, Camacho was acquired by the Eiroa family, and production moved to Honduras, where it remains today. Christian Eiroa, now president, made the Camacho line a favorite among smokers looking for something bold and rich. The Camacho Triple Maduro became a worldwide phenomenon, being one of the most sought after cigars on the market. Wanting to try something new, Christian and his family sold the Camacho brand and its factory to Davidoff in 2008 , but still maintains ownership of the tobacco fields.

So as you can see, the Davidoff Company, also known as the Oettinger Davidoff Group, is an international organization, that produces for more cigars than you would expect. They were responsible for the recent repackaging of the Camacho as the bold “kickass” brand. They were also behind the new look of the Avo line, which as garnered great reviews. So the next time you light up an XO or pick up a box of Triple Maduros, relax in the thought that you are enjoying the same quality that Davidoff guarantees
