Cigars to Enjoy For Valentine’s Day

It’s that time of year again when love is in the air.  Valentine’s Day is a strange holiday because it is beloved by those in relationships and hated by those who aren’t. Whatever the case might be, there is a way that you can enjoy Valentine’s Day, whether with your loved one or entirely on your own.

There are so many cigars you can enjoy for the lovers’ holiday, but I decided to put together a special list of some smokes that just fit in very well this time of year. So, let’s take a look at some of the perfect cigars for you to enjoy this Valentine’s Day.

Romeo y Julieta Star Crossed

Everyone knows the story of the famous fictional lovers Romeo and Juliet.  The tale of these two love birds will be forever etched in the zeitgeist of western literature.  The name is, of course, also given to one of the world’s most famous cigar brands, making this a great choice for this holiday.

There is a full range of fantastic choices from Romeo, some of which we will touch on later.  However, the one that makes the most sense is our exclusive blend known as Star Crossed.  Named for the “star crossed lovers”, this is a fantastic mellow to medium-bodied blend.  It uses an Ecuadorian shade-grown wrapper over Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos for a combination of sweet and spicy notes.

Dunbarton Mi Querida

The literal translation of this cigar means “my dear”, which is very fitting for Valentine’s Day.  It is also one of my favorite cigars; one that I fell for at first sight.  The Mi Querida was Steve Saka’s first broadleaf blend, meaning it was also his most anticipated up to that point.  It is widely regarded as one of his finest cigars and one of the most highly rated in the industry.

While many of his projects top-notch at Joya de Nicaragua, the Mi Querida was blended by Steve at the legendary NACSA factory.  It is hand-rolled using finely aged Nicaraguan filler and binder tobaccos, along with a dark and flawless Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.  Notes of deep chocolate, cocoa, and a slight spice come together to bring you a top-notch cigar experience.

Antonio y Cleopatra Minis

While normally I do go for short filler cigars, sometimes they can surprise you.  Antonio y Cleopatra is among the best-selling cigars in the country and for a good reason.  They are flavorful, durable and budget-friendly.  They are among the preferred choice for every day, or what I call a working day cigar.  The name is taken from the historic lovers Marc Antony and Cleopatra, so lighting one of these up this week is rather fitting.

These minis are crafted with an Indonesian wrapper with filler tobaccos from the Caribbean Basin.  Notes of tobacco, earth, and leather combine for a quick, flavorful, and affordable cigar.

Romeo y Julieta Aniversario

Anniversaries, like Valentine’s Day, are a celebration of love and dedication.  That makes this bold and flavorful cigar from the Romeo line even more fitting for celebrating this holiday.  Made to commemorate the 130 years of success with the Romeo line, the Anniversario is a bold and rich smoke that’ll pair well with any Valentine’s Day meal, particularly steak.

The cigar is crafted with Peruvian, Dominican, and Nicaraguan tobaccos, along with a broadleaf binder and a stunning Sumatra wrapper.  This unique blend provides notes of coffee, leather, sweet spice and earth for an all-around, balanced smoke.
